100 Women in Hedge Funds Late Summer Garden Party in Geneva

For once, this is not a post about cycling, travel, friends or family.

You see... As a member of 100 Women in Hedge Funds organization, I volunteered my time on the philanthropy committee. We organized a fund-raiser to raise money for Wellbeing of Women, a UK charity that has been selected as the recipient of 100 Women in Hedge Fund's European fundraising initiative for the year 2008. As one would expected of a typical English garden party, the rain failed to ease and we had to abandon the use of Restaurant le Vieux Boix's beautiful outdoor facilities.

My job for a good part of this evening was to "check-in" the guests. (aka "door police")

You think you can sneak in without a paid ticket? Think again! Don't be fooled by my smiling face and easy-going manner. Please talk to that lady in RED if you don't have a ticket. Oh, by the way, wanna buy a raffle ticket...?

Despite the rain, this event was a success. Through donations, ticket sales, auction and raffle, we raised over CHF 75k for the charity. While it's not the £600k+ raised by London at their Gala, we're very pleased with the result of our first fundraiser...
