Hiking le Salève
Le Salève is the closest mountain to Geneva. It is a year-round playground attracting hikers, cyclists and paragliders. Le Salève is in France.
Eric's parents arrived in Geneva to join us on our Route des Grandes Alpes trip. But first we were off for a hike up to Salève.
There are many hiking trails on le Salève. We started ours from le Coin. From there, we ascended the steeper trail to the cave at Grottes d'Orjobet. Instead of taking the easier and more direct path up to la Croisette, we went towards Sentier de la Corraterie. TheSentier de la Collaterie is a path that wraps the face of le Salève, often along steep drops. This route is not recommended for anyone with vertigo and can be icy during winter.
After a drink at la Croisette, we returned to le Coin via a trail that criss-crosses the upper half of the Route de la Croisette before it turns back into the forest.
